Ocean Alert
World Ocean Day
A healthy ocean is critical for survival so on World Oceans Day on the 8th June (every year!) people all round our blue planet celebrate and honour the ocean, which connects us all.
So Why Celebrate World Oceans Day?
World Oceans Day creates the opportunity for us to honour and celebrate the ocean and all it provides us. The ocean is important to us because it:
– Generates most of the oxygen we breathe
– Helps to feed us
– Regulates our climate
– Cleans the water we drink
– Offers a pharmacopoeia of medicines
– And provides limitless inspiration!
It’s your turn!
Participate in a World Oceans Day event or activity this year like a Big Beach Clean, or lend a helping hand at an ocean sanctuary! You’re helping to protect the ocean for the future. It’s up to each one of us to help ensure that our ocean is healthy for future generations.
Visit World Oceans Day’s website to find an event near you, people all round the world have participated. Or organise your own event and submit it to World Oceans so other people can appreciate your amazing work, and even lend a helping hand.
Social Media can have an extraordinary impact on awareness so make sure you tag and post all about your efforts to help World Oceans Day. For a little inspiration, plenty of tags already exist.
