A little prep can go a long way
Organise and prep to reduce stress
Practice papers to be answered, a sports training session to attend, an essay deadline tomorrow, and all must be done before your best friend’s party in two days’ time. Sound familiar? Believe it or not, with a bit of help, your manic, stressful life can be neatly organised; a little prep can go a long way!
So, here are our top 5 tips for organisation:
1. Find a routine.
Set aside an hour after school each day as designated work time so it becomes habit to get home, grab a snack and get up to date on all your projects. And Friday’s? Social night. Make it a regular to find a friend or head out with family to enjoy some down time. Finding a routine will make your organisation a habit: and habits are hard to break!
2. Organise your space.
Being tidy makes everything else easier. It helps you to work faster without wasting time looking for stuff. Keep your assignments and class information organized by subject. Put them in binders, notebooks, or folders. If you find yourself stuffing loose papers in your bag or grabbing different notebooks for the same class, it’s time to stop and reorganize!
3. Make your time effective.
Only got 1 hour to study? Use an app like Flora to help you stay focused. Your time is precious so don’t waste it on unnecessary things.
4. Organise your time.
Diary’s aren’t just for adults, having all your events marked in one place allows you to keep up to date. Use a planner or app to keep track of your schoolwork: this can be a game changer when it comes to getting organised. You can customise not only the look, but the layout to suit you. Snap in ‘to do’ lists, productivity sheets, meal plans- your prep resources are endless! Colour coding with a coloured sticker for each class can be especially useful for looking at a glance.
5. 3 important tasks a day.
Choose your 3 most important tasks for the day and make it a priority to complete them. If you are achieving your most important tasks each day, you will likely find everything falls into place neatly and orderly. Remember your important tasks for the day don’t always have to be work- a good balance is vital!
